"God is unchangeable, does not vary. He 'does not change like shifting shadows,' as James expressed it (1:17). Unlike human beings, God is not volatile or capricious. His love is steadfast and constant and is not subject to the ebb and flow of human love. His attitude toward sin is a fixed attitude, not like our fits of temper when something displeases us. He is unchangeably against injustice, cruelty, or deceit. God never changes. When he seems to be different, it might be because we have changed and in so doing have come into a different relationship with Him."
