Standing at 6ft, Cathy placed 2nd runner up in the 2006 Miss Earth and is known as Miss Earth Water. She graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines and is currently the executive director of the Miss Earth Foundation.  Bakawan is her second collaboration storybook as Miss Earth, and her way of teaching kids how to help in the fight against pollution. She says, "It discusses how waste affects our environment and ultimately our lives. We sincerely hope that it will help bring attention to our mangroves, a sanctuary for birds and marine life which are often neglected. This book is for the youth who will inherit this Earth and even to the adults who we should all look up to."
Reena Rae Sarmiento
 Reena Rae Sarmiento is the 2006 Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism title holder.  She is a host and events organizer.  Raised in Canada, Reena is now staying in the Philippines to pursue modeling and help conserve the environment along the way.  Bakawan is her second collaborative storybooks.
Mae Astrid Tobias
Astrid graduated with a degree in English (Creative Writing) from UP Diliman and is currently taking her MA in English Creative Writing. She is also the manager of the Kabataan News Network (KNN) Manila Bureau. She was a fellow in the 1st Barlaya Writing for Children Workshop and the 43rd UP National Writers' Workshop.  She has received recognition from the PBBY and Palanca for her works for children. Astrid was president of the Kuwentista ng mga Tsikiting (KUTING) from 2004-2006.  Bakawan is not her first storybook about the environment, having previously authored books for Haribon Foundation.
